本研究は、日本の美術館に所蔵された印象派やポスト印象派を中心としたフランス近代美術の作品情報を網羅的に調査し、各地に美術館が新設された1970年代以降から現在までを視野に入れて、コレクションの全体像とその歴史を提示することを目的とする。
その際、フランスにおける美術制度の反応を確認しながら、周辺の西欧諸国の美術館における関連作品のコレクション形成史と日本の状況との国際的な比較を実施する。日本の美術館が所蔵するフランス近代美術コレクションの歴史的特徴、そこに備わる多様性と同質性を浮き彫りにし、アクチュアルな視野から日仏美術交渉史を捉え直すとともに、日本の美術館の制度を検証する機会とする。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study undertook a broad survey of French modern art collections, focusing on Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works, preserved in museums throughout Japan, and reassessed them from a global comparative viewpoint. Special attention was given to the rise of public museums since the 1970s, investigating their historical context and acquisition strategies. By comparing these with French institutions, the research highlighted the distinct features and diversity of Japanese collections, with a particular emphasis on works by Paul Gauguin. The study also explored the development of museums in Tokyo, using statistical data and considering the framework of Western modern art.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、日本の美術館におけるフランス近代美術の受容とコレクションの実態を明らかにし、国際比較の視点からその特性を検証した。特にポール・ゴーガンの作品所蔵、東京の美術館史の分析をとおして、日本の美術館の歴史と現状に関する深い理解と洞察をもたらした。2本の論文、2本の展覧会カタログへの寄稿、4回の研究発表（2回の国際シンポジウム含む）、3回の講演会によって成果を発表し、これまでの歴史に加えて21世紀の新たな美術館の動向を考察する手がかりを得た。
