A) Fiscal Year of 2022. I intend to study documentation deposited at Parishes in Portugal. After that phase, I intend to study documentation deposited in the Historical Archives of Lisbon (Filmoteca Ultramarina Portuguesa, Arquivo Historico Ultramarino, Torre do Tombo Archive, Biblioteca Nacional).

Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I am currently studying the Japanese, Chinese and Korean Diasporas in the early modern period. At the same time, I am studying the Japanese presence in the Society of Jesus in Japan, Macau and Vietnam.
The results of this study have been presented in several symposiums, seminars, webinars.
I am also writing a book and some articles on the subject.
Part of the result of this work was recently published in:

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
During the fiscal year of 2023, I intend to study documentation deposited in Spain, namely the Historical Archives of Seville (Archivo General de Indias, Archivo Historico Provincial de Sevilla, Archivo Historico de la Universidad de Sevilla) and Madrid (Real Academia de la Historia), Spain.
I will also continue studying the documentation deposited at Parishes in Lisbon, in the Historical Archives of Lisbon (Filmoteca Ultramarina Portuguesa, Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino, Torre do Tombo Archive, Biblioteca Nacional). I am looking at the marriage, baptisms, death registrations of the Asian emigrants: gender, age, place of origin, year of marriage registration.
