Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は戦後初期私立大学における教員養成の再編と機能を明らかにするものである。初年度は、終戦直後に私立大学が中等学校教員養成を再編していく論理を検証する。2年目は、私立大学が1950年代半ばに小学校教員の教職課程を制度化するプロセスを明らかにする。3年目には、戦後初期の教員社会で私学出身教員が担った役割について数量的に分析を行う。以上により、戦後の私学による教員養成の意義と課題を再検討したい。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study explored the rationale and historical context behind the institutionalization of elementary school teacher training at private universities in Japan during the early postwar period. The analysis reveals that the institutionalization process was shaped less by the presence of affiliated elementary schools and more by the unique historical and cultural conditions specific to each university. This study also investigated the concurrent reorganization of secondary school teacher training at private universities. While many private universities with prewar teacher training departments restructured them into general faculties such as the Faculty of Letters after the war, some institutions established Faculties of Education and actively continued teacher training. These transformations were strongly influenced by the postwar reform principle of the “open system” of teacher training.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

戦後の教員養成史はこれまで主に国立大学を中心に検討されてきたが、本研究は私学の側から養成史を再構築する新たな試みといえる。現代では教員の供給において私学の存在感がより一層増しており、戦後初期に遡って私立大学の教員養成の役割や機能を問いなおした本研究の意義は大きい。また、教員養成の「開放制」原則が私学にもたらした影響の一端を明らかにしたことは、今後の教員養成政策を構想する上で重要な示唆を与えるものといえる。
