Outline of Research at the Start

空間反転対称性が破れた系において活性となる、「奇パリティ拡張多極子」の秩序が近年理論提案されており、その実験的証拠を積み重ねることが喫緊の課題である。本研究は金属化合物中の局所的な電気応答を捉えることに長ける超音波測定の特徴を活かし、磁気測定とは異なる観点から、奇パリティ多極子が活性であると考えられる以下の候補物質において電流・磁場などの軸性の外場を用いた交差相関現象の観測を試み,未解明の秩序変数の対称性を議論する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Utilizing the unique capability of ultrasound measurements to detect local electric responses in metallic compounds, this research explores odd-parity multipoles from a perspective different from magnetic measurements. Through cross-correlation phenomena induced by axial external fields such as electric current and magnetic field, the study attempts to observe signs of active odd-parity multipoles in candidate materials, as well as in representative multipolar ordering systems such as Cd2Re2O7, CeCoSi, UNi4B, and CeB6. The aim is to discuss the symmetry of unresolved order parameters.
In parallel, the development of an ultrasound probe equipped with a biaxial goniometer rotation mechanism is being carried out. As a test measurement for this newly developed device, the magnetic field directional dependence of the magnetic field-temperature phase diagram of CeB6, a typical strongly correlated electron system that exhibits antiferroquadrupolar order, was investigated in detail.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

研究期間全体を通じて、奇パリティ多極子秩序を示す強相関電子系の超音波測定の磁場中回転効果を系統的に検証することができるようになった。これにより、当該物質の多極子秩序を理解する新たな情報を得ることに成功した。
また、新たな共同研究の芽として当初の研究計画にはないアシンメトリ量子物質(YbCuS4, LiReO3, URhSn)の測定にも着手している。それぞれ超音波測定に成功し、興味深い結果が得られているため今後の研究の進展に期待が持てる。
