Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
To address the problem of shallow depth of field and the trade-off with magnification and field of view in microscopic imaging, this study constructed a close-up, multi-view imaging system using a spherical lens and mirrors, and analyzed the light field observed in this system. In addition, the research was extended by introducing a polarized light source as active illumination. This allowed for geometric modeling and analysis of polarization reflected by mirrors, shape reconstruction using polarization characteristics observed in microscopic imaging, and estimation of surface reflectance properties such as surface roughness based on mirror-reflected polarization.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
