Outline of Research at the Start

超小型衛星を用いて、電波の伝搬特性を活かしたリモートセンシングによる地球磁気圏の電磁環境モニタの道を拓く。そのため、
(A) 衛星内部から混入する人工雑音を衛星上の実時間演算で抑圧する技術
(B) 雷起源電波を検知し、到来方向や伝搬遅延特性を表すパラメータを実時間演算する技術
を開発し、超小型衛星に搭載可能な小型・軽量なディジタル受信器の基礎設計を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

太陽系内プラズマの電磁環境を網羅的に調査するには、小型化した衛星を複数配置した同時多点観測が必須である。超小型衛星による電磁波計測を実現するには、搭載受信器の超小型化と受信した電磁波信号を超高速(準リアルタイム)で機上処理し、必要な情報のみを地上伝送する機能の実現が求められる。
本研究計画では、プログラマブル論理チップ(FPGA)を用いて受信器を大幅に小型・軽量化し、(A) 衛星内から発生する搭載機器由来の雑音を除去する機能と(B) 観測データの連続実時間処理を行う信号処理モジュールを開発する。さらに雷起源の電磁波である雷ホイスラーなどの波動現象を検知・抽出し、波動の到来方向や分散値などの伝搬パラメータを実時間演算する機能を開発することで、超小型衛星に搭載可能な超小型・軽量な雷ホイスラー検出受信器を開発する。
今年度は、開発中の人工雑音除去機能の定量評価を行った。昨年度までに、周波数領域における振幅特性(スペクトル)で良好な雑音除去特性が得られることを確認済みであが、波形レベルでの振幅・位相特性は未確認であった。これに対し今年度は、所望信号に白色雑音や矩形波雑音を混入した信号の雑音除去後の信号が、どの程度、所望信号を正確に再現するかを、疑似信号を用いて、信号対雑音比(SN比)をパラメータとして定量的に明らかにした。
並行して、昨年度から着手している、受信信号中に観測された自然波動信号を検知する、波動イベント検出機能についても検討を行った。昨年度段階では、機上での実時間動作には計算量が過大であることが課題であったが、採用するアルゴリズムを簡素化し、検知性能を大きく損なうことなく計算負荷を削減する方法を考案した。
最終年度は、これらの開発した各モジュールを統合し、実機上での動作検証をめざす。

Reason

雑音除去性能の定量評価に加え、雷起源電波などの自然波動を対象とするイベント検知機能についても実機搭載可能なロジックが確立しつつある。今後、実機検証を進め、問題点の洗い出しと、手法改善を進める。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

雑音除去とイベント検知の両機能は相補的な関係にあり、高い雑音除去性能が得られれば、イベント検知の特性改良につながる。両機能の実装・改良に加え、後段で波動の到来方向推定機能を組み合わせることで、検知した波動イベントの到来方向や分散値の算出に必要な伝搬パラメータを演算する機能を開発する。
