| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は西田幾多郎、田辺元、九鬼周造、中井正一の4人に注目し、戦前の日本思想の頂点にして戦後の実践の起点となる1935年前後の日本哲学の思想の文脈を明らかにする。この四者は日本哲学というネットワークにおいて議論を交わし、1935年前後にそれぞれの代表作を発表している。本研究ではそれぞれの思想を西田（無の思想・偶然派）／田辺（無の思想・必然派）／九鬼（実存の思想・偶然派）／中井（実存の思想・必然派）の4タイプに分ける。本研究は人物横断的な研究を行うことで日本哲学というネットワークで形成された議論を示し、戦後史も視野に入れながらその歴史的意義を明らかにする。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I studied the philosophies of Nishida Kitaro, Tanabe Hajime, Kuki Shuzo, Iwashita Soichi, Nakai Masakazu. This study consists of the following eight elements. 1) Comparative study of the philosophies of Kuki Shuzo and Nakai Masakazu. 2) A study of coincidence focusing on Kuki's unfulfilled feelings toward Iwashita Soichi and Kameyo. 3) A study of the philosophy of Higaki Tatsuya from the perspective of Japanese philosophy. 4) A comparative study of the philosophy of Kuki Shuzo and Tanabe Hajime. 5) A study of the philosophy of technology of Nakai Masakazu. 6) A study of "real" of Nishida Kitaro. 7) A study of anthropology of Kuki Shuzo. (viii) Networking with overseas researchers. Through these studies, I have shown that Japanese philosophy has been formed through discussions among philosophers concerning Absolute Nothingness, Existence, Necessity, and Contingency. We can find many important philosophical ideas in Japanese philosophy.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
日本哲学研究は近代日本の人文学の重要な達成であるが、その内実は十分には解明されていない。本研究は当時の日本の哲学界の中心にいた京都学派の西田幾多郎と田辺元、そして彼らからはやや距離を取って実存の哲学の系譜を形成した九鬼周造とその後継者中井正一の四者に注目することで、日本哲学は思想的ネットワークの中で互いに議論を闘わせながらそれぞれの研究を深めていたことを示した。そして日本哲学は現代においてもさらなる展開が可能な議論の宝庫であることを明らかにした。
