従来の倫理学史研究では、イギリスやドイツと比べると、フランスの倫理学は限定的にしか論じられてこなかった。だが近現代フランスには、同時代の英独倫理学とは一線を画す思想が見られる。なかでも第三共和政期にベルクソンやデュルケームらが繰り広げた道徳教育論争は、いまだ充分に解明されていないフランス倫理学の理念や覇権の変遷に関する私たちの理解を深める点で研究する意義が大きい。そこで本研究では、道徳教育論争の進展に伴い頻繁に改変された道徳教育のカリキュラムや教科書や副読本を調査した上でベルクソンとデュルケームの著作を精読することにより両者の倫理思想を解明し、その現代的意義を示すことを目指す。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have made achievements both in the history of ethics and in the history of moral education in France.
There are two results concerning the history of ethics. First, we critically examined the validity of previous studies on the differences and similarities between Bergson and Durkheim, and attempted a new interpretation. Second, we investigated the relation between several ethical theories that appeared during the Third Republic and Bergson's ethical thought, and clarified the ethical implications of Bergson's philosophy before The Two Sources of Morality and Religion.
On the other hand, as the results related to the history of moral education, we focused on "moral intuition", a key concept in moral education in the Third Republic, and elucidated the theoretical influences from French Spiritualism and the aim of Ferdinand Buisson's reinterpretation of the concept.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
ベルクソン研究としては、先行研究があまり注目してこなかったベルクソンの道徳教育論を軸に、彼の思想の倫理的含意を解明した点に意義があると言える。また、デュルケーム研究としては、社会学や教育学ではなく倫理学の観点から、彼の思想の哲学的ルーツや同時代の自然科学からの影響を明らかにした点に意義がある。
さらに本研究では、いかにして人に道徳を教えるべきか、という道徳教育の方法をめぐる問いに対して、倫理学がなしうる実践的貢献の射程を考察した。第三共和政期フランスにおける倫理思想と道徳教育の相関関係を批判的に検討した本研究は、現代倫理学の知見を踏まえた新たな道徳教育論構築の端緒にもなりうると思われる。
