Outline of Research at the Start

熱帯病のマラリアはマラリア原虫を持つハマダラカに媒介され人に感染する、非常に致死率の高い寄生虫病である。マラリア合併症として下痢や嘔吐を伴う消化管合併症や、意識低下などの神経症状を示す脳マラリアが知られており、その発症によりマラリアの重篤化や致死率の上昇が報告されている。本研究ではマラリア合併症の発症メカニズムの解明を目指し、マラリア感染時における消化管粘膜免疫システムの詳細な解析および脳マラリアの発症に重要な部位である嗅球について解析する。
