Outline of Research at the Start |
This project compares historical debates on the regulation of alcohol and tobacco advertising in post-1945 Britain. It examines sources tied to industry, campaign, and policy groups in understanding the mechanisms that contribute to the formation of a public health policy on marketing.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This has been a productive academic year. I organised two international conferences, the first being the 2023 British East Asian Conference for Historians at the Institute of Historical Research in London in September, and the second being the international symposium entitled 'Navigating Commodities: Production, Markets, and Consumption in History' at the University of Tokyo in November. In terms of publications, the monograph that I have been editing for a couple of years has finally come out in April, and my journal article has received a revise & resubmit from the peer reviewers. My archival research for my project has also progressed with additional documents collected from the National Archives.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
My research is progressing as expected and I have been able to gather most of the material needed for my current project. I have also reached major milestones with publications.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The next year of the Fellowship will play an important role in advancing my research career. First, I intend to revise and publish the article I have been working on since the beginning of the Fellowship. Secondly, I have sufficient material for my current project and intend to prepare a presentation and a draft thesis based on the primary material I have already collected. I plan to present my research at several conferences, both national and international.
