Outline of Research at the Start

大規模なフォールトトレラント量子計算実現の為、量子インターコネクトやマジック状態蒸留、符号スイッチンク等を含む量子計算機クラスタを設計し、それらを効率的に扱うためのシステムソフトウェアを定式化する。1年目には、量子計算機クラスタ上のプログラミング言語やフォールトトレラント量子回路最適化問題の定式化を行う。2年目には、クラスタ上に量子回路や量子変数を割り当てるシステムソフトウェアの定式化・設計を行う。3年目には、量子誤り訂正符号変換プロトコルを定義し、ユニハーサルゲートセット実現の為の符号スイッチングや、量子計算と量子インターコネクトで異なる符号間の変換コストを評価する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

量子デバイスには様々な誤り・ノイズが存在し、量子情報処理における障壁となっているである。誤りを検出、訂正する手法として量子誤り訂正符号(QEC)が提案されており、これを用いることでフォールトトレラント量子計算(FTQC)を実現することが期待されている。しかしながら、単一量子プロセッサの実装可能な量子ビット数には限界があり、スケーラブルなFTQCの実現には、量子インターコネクトで複数量子プロセッサを接続した量子計算機クラスタが不可欠である。本研究は、FTQCと量子計算機クラスタに関わる以下の研究を行なった。
(1)量子インターコネクトに有用な量子リードソロモン符号の符号化回路に必要なゲートのコストを、光子の複数の自由度を活用する量子多重化によって大幅に削減した。(2)表面符号およびハイパーグラフ積符号を量子多重化された量子インターコネクトで用いた際に生じる相関のあるノイズによる性能の低下を評価し、その影響を抑えるインターリーブ手法を提案した。(3)世界初のフォーマルな分散量子計算の中間表現言語を提案した。これにより計算コストを定量化し、デッドロックなどの障害の実行前検知が可能になった。 (4) FTQC量子回路の最適化の計算量を示した。(5)基本的なボソニック符号であるCat符号において、一般性が高いBridge状態が使用できることを示し、実用性を向上させた。(6)大規模なFTQCで複数ジョブを並列実行する量子マルチプログラミングのためのオンラインジョブスケジューリング問題を定式化し、世界初のオンラインスケジューラを提案、スループットを大幅に改善した。
このほかに、量子リザバー計算、ボソンサンプリング、量子機械学習、グラフ状態などの量子計算に関連する研究において成果を発表した。これらの研究により、大規模なFTQCと量子情報処理の理解が深化し、実用上のコスト低減が期待される。
