Outline of Research at the Start

冷戦期アメリカ合衆国の広報文化外交政策は、日本やアジアにどのような影響をもたらしたのか。本研究では、アメリカ合衆国が広報文化外交の一環で行った農村近代化政策が日本でどのように展開・受容されたのかについて明らかにすることを目指す。とりわけ、アメリカ発の農村青年団体「4-Hクラブ」の海外普及と日本での受容の歴史を、農村近代化政策の中心的事例として討究する。これを通じて、アメリカが近代化の実践を通じて行おうとした反共政策が、農村をはじめとするローカルな場に及ぼした効果や限界を探る。
