Research Abstract |
Among the physiological responses which are derived from an emotional behavior or an arousal of nervous system, the sense of heart beat is easy to be aware. Fine tuning of the mind and body is essential to the achievement of optimal performance under the competitive situation. In this study, we aimed to study the physiological response indicating the relationship between the optimum level of arousal and performance from the psychological standpoint based on the reversal theory. The results obtained were as follows. 1) By the differences of anxiety traits, the increase of heart rates did not reflect the only a negative emotion. 2) The decrease of the heart rate was reflected on an anxiety or an excitement during the task which was a slight higher than one's skill levels. The activation of the brain was observed in one's anxiety feelings. 3)The active or passive responses on different kinds of tasks were shown significantly to the differences in cardiac activities.
