| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A survey on the molluscan fauna of Ibaraki Prefecture was conducted based on museum collections and field surveys, with special reference to a survey with citizen participation, in order to clarify the actual state of molluscan fauna in Ibaraki Prefecture. As a result, not only was a marine molluscan collection comprised of about 4,400 specimens of about 390 species identified and arranged, but also about 80 species of land snails and about 40 species of fresh water molluscans were confirmed and counted. In addition, that survey with citizen participation clarified the distribution situation of two species of alien land snails giving damage to crops in Ibaraki Prefecture. These results were made widely available to the public through the publication and the special exhibition of the museum, and will serve as a basis to choose species in the revised Red List of Ibaraki Prefecture publicized by the prefectural homepage.
