Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Firstly, I selected the novels of Balzac, George Sand, Marceline Desbordes-Valmore, Theophile Gautier, and Madame de Stael in order to analyze the interrelation between Literature and Fine Arts, and to clarify the symbolical role that fill some pictures in the structure of the novels. Secondly, having extracted the portrait of the characters from the novels mentioned above, I related each portrait with the figure of Raffaello, Girodet, Rubens, Holbein, or Domenichino, and analyzed it in the view of Gender, comparing with the notion of femininity and masculinity in the 19th Century. Finally, I compared the figures of woman artist in the novels of male and female writers to find what is the difference between them and to clarify what is the originality of the latter.
