Research Abstract |
In this project, we were concerned with the interface phenomena between syntax and morphology, particularly paying attention to what we call NA Adjectives. Despite the traditional idea that syntax is blind to what happened in morphology, Arimura argued that the principles needed with respect to syntax are effectively operative in morphology. On the other hand Takahashi was interested in two types of Japanese compounds; one formed by compounding of a noun and an adjective, and the other formed by syntactic operations. He argued that lexical integrity can configurationally and semantically be captured.
