Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This project aims to study the process of the identification and formation of modern China’s 56 nationalities by using the case of the Qing dynasty bannermen’s activities. Its main objective is to clarify the constant fission and fusion of ethnic groups in the period from the disintegration of the Qing Empire to the founding of modern China. In 2012 I organized an international symposium entitled “China’s Political Reform and Minority Nationality Rights”,attended by scholars from the University of Cambridge,Harvard University, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In the past few years, I attended international symposiums organized abroad and delivered my research findings there. In 2014 I organized an international symposium entitled “Warlords and Inner Mongolia” to conclude the project. In the project period, I have published three research papers, edited four books, and made presentations at three international symposiums.
