Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purposes of this study were 1) establishing an LGBT support group for LGBT youth and their friends and family members, and 2) developing an LGBT sensitivity program for teachers and counselors. In 2011, we established SAG Tokushima, which is a community-based LGBT support group, and since then, we have organized self-help groups, family counseling, individual counseling, workshops, and LGBT festivals. We also developed an LGBT sensitivity program for teachers and counselors and conducted its short and long versions several times. We conducted two questionnaire surveys before and after the program. Results showed that after the program, scores for homophobia decreased and those for self-efficacy in dealing with LGBT students or clients increased.
