Research Abstract |
Ancient astronomical records of eclipses and occultations were investigated and parameter values of the Earth's rotation and lunar tidal acceleration were obtained until AD 1000 using them. Problems in the calculations of the Senmyo-reki (Xuanming-li in Chinese) were clarified. In order to calculate predictions of eclipses and occultations precisely computer programs for lunar limb profiles were completed using the precise lunar topographic data obtained by the Japanese lunar orbiter Kaguya and NASA's lunar orbiter LRO and they were used for actual predictions of eclipses and occultations.
