Research Abstract |
Reducing the outbreaks caused by the consumption of raw vegetables is one of the important issues especially in developing countries. We have conducted the corroborative severance study of irrigation water used for crop production in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Bangladesh. About half of 300 checked samples were contaminated with E.coli. Direct entrance of animal into the field or running of the fecal contaminated water into crop field from beside animal farm may cause this results because no contamination was found from the water from deep well. Introduction of good agricultural practices (GAP) into farm will be required to protect the crops from fecal contamination.
