Research Abstract |
The Traumatic Grief Treatment Program (TGTP) is a trauma/grief-focused cognitive behavioral treatment developed to improve prolonged/complicated grief with post-traumatic stress disorder in bereaved family members due to violent death. In this study, training method and materials of the program was developed. Trainees who participated in a training workshop successfully completed the program under supervision. In another part of this study, the exploratory factor analysis showed the distinctiveness of prolonged grief symptoms from PTSD and depression among survivors of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. This finding strongly suggests that prolonged grief disorder with PTSD requires a trauma/grief-focused psychotherapy such as TGTP.
