Research Abstract |
This research illuminates memory expressions in Japanese. In analytic philosophy, the concept of memory is studied primarily through examining 'remember' and other English memory expressions. In this research, I closely examine Japanese memory expressions, and compare them to its corresponding expressions in English. I show that some concepts of memory presupposed in analytic philosophy are based upon how memory expressions as 'remember' are used in English.
