Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to explore the reception and meaning of ancient buddhist sculptures in Nara region during the middle ages. Subjects are the principal image statue of seated Yakushi Nyorai(Skt.,Bhaisjyaguru)in Shinyakushi-ji, the principal image statue of standing Juichimen Kannon(Skt.,Ekadasamukha)in Hase-dera, the principal image statue of seated Fukukenjaku Kannon(Skt.,Amoghapasa Avalokitesvara)in Nanen-do Hall of Kofuku-ji, and so on. This study proceeded to specific clarification about the history of post-production, the aspects of worship, the relationship with Shinto-Buddhism syncretism, the formation and visualizing of discourses, and the production of replica.
