Research Abstract

In Japan, a pension division system that allows pensions to be divided in the event of divorce was introduced in 2007. However, the system has experienced less use than expected. Therefore, this research focuses on the German system, which was used as the basis for the Japanese system, and investigates the features that were prominent for the creation of the Japanese system. The German system itself was revised in 2009.
The results of our research concluded that we should approach the system from the perspective of social security law, and henceforth presume a uniform and equal division of pension.Furthermore, this institutional correspondence is essential.
