Outline of Research at the Start

数ミクロン径の「その場ジルコン年代測定」を開発し、温度-圧力-変形-部分融解-流体活動履歴を制約したプレート収斂域試料に適用する。これにより多数の年代制約を同履歴に与えることができるため、プレート収斂域の岩石が深部へ沈み込んだ後、中深度へ上昇する間の岩石上昇速度を、高精度で決定できる。さらに低温・浅部をカバーする年代測定法を同一試料へ適用し、より浅所に露出するまでの一連のプロセスを解読する。こうして得られる情報を境界条件とした3Dテクトニックモデルを構築する。以上により大山脈が大陸衝突帯に形成される条件を理解し、地殻深部過程と表層での大山脈形成による環境変動とを結び付ける新展開を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

南極セール・ロンダーネ山地中央部(メーフィエル)の泥質片麻岩の温度-圧力-時間履歴解析を進め、従来のモナズ石年代に加え、ジルコンからも2つの年代ピークを得た。これをペトロクロノロジー解析した結果、現在存在しているザクロ石は約560Maに形成されたものであるが、約630Maにもザクロ石と共存する変成ジルコンや変成モナズ石の成長があったことがわかった。約540Maにはザクロ石分解に伴うモナズ石の成長があった。加えて、同中央部のブラットニーパネから初めて、超高温変成の痕跡の可能性がある高Zr濃度のルチルを発見し、試料の全岩化学組成を用いたシードセクション法による温度-圧力履歴解析を行った。また、同山地の硫化鉱物の硫黄同位体比と流体活動に関する論文やAl2SiO5-石英脈を作る流体活動に関する論文の執筆を進めた。
南極リュツォ・ホルム岩体ルンドボークスヘッタの超高温変成岩についてシュードセクション法による解析を行い、温度-圧力-時間履歴の複数点において部分融解メルトの組成を決定することに世界で初めて成功し、この成果を国際誌に発表した。
LA-MC-ICP-MSを用いたU-Pbモナズ石年代測定(レーザー径10um)の立ち上げを行い、ネパールヒマラヤの泥質片麻岩中のザクロ石に包有されるモナズ石に適用した結果、ヒマラヤ期よりも古いパンアフリカン造山運動期の年代値を得た。このような年代値はFmIIIに産する正片麻岩中のジルコンからも得られ、パンアフリカン造山運動期の変成岩や火成岩が原岩であることに由来する可能性がある。
領家帯三河地域の花崗岩類についてジルコンのHf同位体比を測定し、U-Pb年代との間に相関関係を見出した。加えて三重県東部地域の花崗岩類と、花崗岩類に含まれる変成岩ゼノリスのU-Pb年代測定を進め、従来知られていたよりよりも古い年代の花崗岩類を見出した。

Reason

ヒマラヤ地域の研究で重要な役割を担う、LA-ICP-MSを用いたモナズ石のU-Pb年代測定がほぼ立ち上がり、今後未知試料に適用していく段階となった。温度-圧力-時間-部分融解-流体活動履歴を編む試料の解析も、ヒマラヤ、南極、領家帯試料のいずれも順調に進んでおり、微小領域測定が必要ない試料については順次解析を進められている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

セール・ロンダーネ山地中央部の変成岩類が記録する温度-圧力-時間履歴は、詳細な理解が進んできた。そこでこれを地域のテクトニクスと関連付ける目的で、延性剪断帯の活動時期決定のための年代測定を実施する。また、既存の表層地形発達モデルと岩石の地殻浅部におけるthermo-kinematicモデルの融合を進め、地下深部物質から得られる履歴を表層プロセスにリンクする手法の構築を目指す。現在ピストンシリンダーを用いて実施している、複数相の微細鉱物に結晶化したメルト包有物の再融解・ガラス化実験は時間がかかりすぎるため、より簡便に実施するための手法開発を進める。
