本研究の目的は、日本からみたサイエンス型産業を対象とし、科学技術論文と特許のデータベースを利用した定量的な分析とフィールドにもとづいた定性的な分析とを接合することによって、研究開発活動における国内外の技術・人的連関を明らかにし、グローバル・ハブ（中核的集積地域）と各地がどのように結びついているかという点を多角的に考察することである。研究者・技術者など「人のつながり」を定量化および可視化することで都市集積・産業集積とイノベーションの関係性に新たな知見を提供し、ハイテク移民や頭脳還流などの実態解明に寄与することである。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study examines the linkages between science and technology journals and patents in Japan, Asian industrial clusters, and networked other cities for science-based industries, joining quantitative and qualitative methods. The study also examined the linkages between domestic and international technology and human resources in R&D activities by combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis based on field studies. We analyzed the database of scientific and technical papers and patents in the specific technological field of semiconductors to examine how each region is connected to the global core regions, and clarified the geographical characteristics and the network of researchers and engineers in terms of the linkage structure of domestic R&D and production functions from the viewpoints of industrial location theory and corporate geography. The results revealed some aspects of the network of researchers and engineers.

本研究の意義は、科学技術の依存度の高い産業を対象として、科学技術の知的活動ならびに人的なリンケージについて定量的な分析と定性的な分析を結合することで、研究開発活動における国内外の連関構造の一端を明らかにすることにある。特に、科学技術論文や特許情報を活用して場所間の人的なネットワークを解明することで、グローバル化にともなう研究者や技術者の流動についても知見を得ることができ、ハイテク移民や頭脳還流などの現象解明に貢献するとともに、都市集積・産業集積とイノベーションの関係性に新たな洞察をもたらすことができる。
