Outline of Research at the Start

ゲリラ豪雨やマイクロバーストなどの局所的な極端気象現象は、人間の社会的生活における安全上の脅威となっており、その発達段階での早期検出が課題となっている。しかし、従来のウィンドプロファイラーや気象レーダーでは、風速ベクトルのドップラー速度成分しか計測できないため、局所的な擾乱を高精度に計測することには限界がある。本研究では、厳密な移流散乱方程式に基づくインバージョン法により、レーダーを用いた高分解能3次元ベクトル風速場観測技術を開発する。これにより、例えば航空機離着陸時のフライトパス上の気象擾乱の検出や、高層建築物の密集する都市環境における気象擾乱の検出を可能とするレーダー開発への道筋をつける。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study developed a previously unattainable, high-precision and high-resolution three-dimensional wind-field estimation technique by applying a novel radar-interferometric inversion method grounded in spectral-observation theory. Factorising the antenna-beam response into horizontal and vertical components dramatically reduced the computational burden, yielding a lightweight algorithm that achieved both superior accuracy and high processing speed in tests with synthetic observation data. Consequently, cross-radial wind-component retrieval with atmospheric radars (wind profilers) has moved a step closer to operational use. In addition, anticipating bistatic deployment, we successfully built a compact bistatic receiving system for the Antarctic large atmospheric radar, incorporating optical delays and a high-performance limiter, thereby demonstrating the method's practical feasibility.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は,代表者の提唱するスペクトル観測理論の応用技術であり,学術的に独自性の高いものである.一方,ゲリラ豪雨やマイクロバーストなどの局所的極端気象の早期検出へ向けた技術開発も喫緊の社会的課題となっており,本研究は社会的課題への直接的貢献をも明確に意図したものである.本科研費(基盤B)課題で所期の成果を達成したことで,科研費の次期計画として特に航空気象観測(マイクロバースト対策)用のインバージョン干渉計レーダー開発課題(基盤A)が採択されている.これにより,本技術の社会実装に向けて開発が加速されるものであり,社会的貢献として航空交通分野への展開を予定するものである.
