| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、産業技術の経路依存性に力点をおき、日本の主要工業地域における産業技術の系譜と地域性を明確化するとともに、各地域が有する競争力の実態と獲得過程を地域間の比較から検討するものである。
本研究では、はじめに、各工業地域特有の産業技術の系譜を明確にする一方、各地域がもつ時期毎の競争力を明らかにする。これを受けて、産業技術の系譜と競争力との相互関係性を比較を通して検討することにより、固有の産業技術の系譜に裏付けられた各地域特有の競争力の実態と獲得過程が明確になる。
最終的には、上述の分析結果をふまえ、産業技術の視角からみた工業地域の持続的発展に関する今後の方向性を提示したい。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focuses on the path dependency of industrial technology and aims to clarify the genealogy and regional characteristics of industrial technologies possessed by Japan's major industrial regions, as well as to examine the actual competitiveness of each industrial region and the process by which it was acquired through comparison between regions.As a result, the genealogy of industrial technology in the Setouchi industrial region and the Hanshin industrial region, among the major industrial regions, became clear.The process of industrialization in the Setouchi Industrial Region, the Hanshin Industrial Region, and the Chukyo Industrial Region became clear.The process of acquiring competitiveness backed by the trajectory of industrial technology.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
人口減少下の日本において地域の持続的発展を図るためには雇用吸収力の高い製造業が不可欠であり、地域の生産機能を維持・発展させるための基礎となる産業技術の継承を図ることは喫緊の政策的課題である。こうした課題に応えるべく、工業地域の動向を産業技術の視角から分析することで独自の地域性や競争力の源泉を明らかにした。本研究における知見は、今後の日本各地における産業振興や地域活性化に資するのみならず、世界の新興工業地域の工業発展に対する一つの指針を提供することになり、こうした点において学術的意義及び社会的意義が認められると考える。
