本研究は、まちかどに祀られている小さな宗教施設、即ち聖祠の配置や都市的分布を調査・分析することから、歴史的都市の空間特性を明らかにする研究である。聖祠は、住民により祀られ維持継承されてきたものであるため、都市の環境を形成してきた重要な空間要素であると言え、その配置には地域固有の空間概念が色濃く表れているものと捉えることができる。
本課題では、東南アジア、特に中国の広州地域の歴史的都市を主な対象として、聖祠の配置調査を行う。また、周辺国における複数の歴史的都市においても同様の調査を並行して行う。それら結果を広域的に相対化することで、東南アジアの各地域の空間的関連性と独自性を構造的に示す。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The research of urban distribution and disposition of small ritual facilities was conducted in 15 cities and their surrounding settlements in Southeast Asia. And this clarified that even in Southeast China from southern Fujian Province to the cities in the mouth of the Pearl River there are differences in the distribution of the small ritual facilities between the north coast, the south coast and the inland areas. This study contributed to the establishment of the foundation for analyzing the gradual layering of culture in Southeast Asia based on these differences in Southeast China.

中国東南部を中心に聖祠の配置の違いを調査によって明らかにした。中国東南部での聖祠の配置の違いを基に、東南アジアの文化的な漸層性、即ち周辺国へどのように影響が展開したかを読み解くための基盤構築に寄与した。
