Outline of Research at the Start

本課題は、モンゴル～キルギス～カザフの草原世界で継承されてきた伝統知の実践が、シルクロードの遊牧民の環境適応術と、生存能力の拡張に果たした役割を実証的に解明する。草原世界の遊牧民のあいだでは、家畜防衛・災害対処・薬草利用・狩猟・水源・牧草地利用など、生存のための伝統知が、口承伝達・語り・掟などの生活実践として継承された。本課題では、①定量社会調査、②リモートセンシング、③社会ネットワーク分析、の3つの異なる手法を応用する。これにより、草原適応術の解明にとどまらず、「文明」の礎でもある人類の生存能力の拡張とレジリエンスの確立に、シルクロード草原の伝統知の実践が果たした役割をも探求する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度(R5年度）は、キルギス北東部イシククル湖周辺のバイボースン自然保護区、ナリン州スルト夏牧場、グレゴリエフカ村などの、牧畜コミュニティを中心に、牧畜民と野生動物／家畜動物の関係誌を物語るオーラルヒストリー、民話・説話、フォークロア、狩猟伝承のドキュメンテーションを実施した。
1.定量社会調査／エスノグラフィック・インタビュー：　昨年に引き続き、牧畜コミュニティにおける女性の役割やジェンダー観など、シルクロード諸国で抑圧的な立場にある女性の生活誌の理解に大きな進展があった。また、タジキスタン国内の山岳農耕と牧畜文化のデータ収集により、天山山脈の牧畜文化や家畜飼養との横断的な対比が可能となった。
2. ユキヒョウの生態観察・トラップカメラ調査：昨年に引き続き、キルギス南部クンゲイ・アラトー山脈に位置するバイボースン自然保護区（BBs）で、3,600m付近にトラップカメラ5台を設置して、ユキヒョウの行動観察を行った。同年度は、2023年5月～24年2月末までに、ユキヒョウ映像100件、野生動物150件が撮影された。地元ハンターのオーラルヒストリーを参照すると、同自然保護区では、およそ5頭のユキヒョウが棲息していると推測された。
3. 遊動と季節移動のGPS追跡調査：イシククル湖およびスルト夏牧場に滞在する4世帯にGPSを保有してもらい、季節移動の場所や地点、移動季節などの追跡調査を実施した。データは、次回の渡航時に回収を予定している。また、種雄家畜交換の遡及調査を実施し、19世帯から過去15年間程度さかのぼって種雄畜が入手された場所・方法・使用期間などを特定した。遺伝的調査と掛け合わせることで、家畜の遺伝的多様性や収斂などを特定することができると考えられる。

Reason

当初研究対象とした地域に限らず、タジキスタンとウズベキスタンの牧畜文化や動物民俗にかんするオーラスヒストリー、書籍、インタビューデータなどを多数収集することができた。そのため、当初の想定を超えて出版物や国際学会への発表を実施することができた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今期に収集された膨大なインタビューとテキストデータの統計解析と、分析が急務となっている。これについては、キルギス人およびタジク人の助手を動員し、メタデータとしての整備を進める。フィールド調査地が、アルタイ山脈、天山山脈に加え、パミール高原方面にも広がったため、現地の実務協力者を増やす形で、代表者が不在の間も、途切れないデータ収集のスキーム構築を進める。
