Outline of Research at the Start

「荒野林」とは、酸性・貧栄養の土壌に成立する熱帯林の一型である。インドネシアのブリトゥン島は荒野林が集中する地域で、その荒野林は東南アジアのなかでも植物地理学的に重要な林となっている。一方、その荒野林は、スズ採掘と近年のリゾート開発などによってその多くが消滅し、現在でも優先的な開発対象になっている。従って、ブリトゥン島の荒野林の保全は急務だが、その対策のための情報が不足している。
本研究では、ブリトゥン島の荒野林を効果・効率的に保全するため下を実施する。
①植物相の特性に基づく荒野林タイプの再検討
②植物相特性・遺伝特性に基づく荒野林の特性評価
③荒野林の植物学的価値の明確化と保全対策の提言
