| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We were granted a special permission from Kofuku-ji temple to conduct this research. We had a chance to investigate nine national treasures: four Judaideshi in which includes an Ashura statue, and five Hatibusyuu. We analyzed the statues using the three-dimensional data obtained by X-ray CT Scanning. As a result, we solved the question of how the dry-lacquered statue were made 1270 years ago. We also acquired information about the restoration history. In addition, we were successful in restoring the prototype image of Ashura form the 3D data. The final report of the project was also produced.
