Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to probe the possibilities of curriculum and instruction which can contribute to the development of the competency necessary for becoming critical and participant citizens who are able to commit to solving publicly important problems independently and cooperatively as a future member of the fairer democratic society. Through the study, we made clear to some extent the significance of (1) the instructionally practical approach we call the personalized free-pace learning in a democratic education, (2) what we call the progressive subjectivity as a necessary competency for the critical and participant citizenship, and (3) the viewpoint of the recognition and redistribution of culture in what is called education for social justice.
