Outline of Final Research Achievements

I studied the schools damaged after the Great East Japan Earthquake 2011, and examined 4 phases of one primary school shelter. I found out that schools have 2 functions, the first one is to educate children, and the second is to become a hub of social capitals in communities and to educate the communities. Especially during the time of disaster recovery and reconstruction, not only the former but also the latter is needed. In order to do that, the teachers and other staff of schools, and community leaders who take on the responsibilities of each functions of schools are required.
