| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The results indicated that secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI) showed a marked inhibitory effect on gingipains (Rgp and Kgp), the major and crucial proteases of Porphyromonas gingivalis, especially at relatively higher pH (8.0 and 8.5). Thus, SLPI could down-regulate the P. gingivalis infection in the gingival crevice through the inhibitory effect on gingipains.
