Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I arranged 18 pictures of “Yoshisune Ezowatari Densetsu”-- the legend that Minamoto no Yoshitsune did not die in Oshu, but rather crossed to Ezo where he reigned as king -- ; including the works discovered by this investigation to a list. Then I classified these works into three groups according to content. The first droup depicts Yoshitsune and his entourage crossing to Ezo by ship. The second group depicts them having engaged in battle with Ezo pople. The third group depicts Ainu people expressing respect to Yoshitsune or his servants. This group includes works created by the person with strong connections to Hokkaido. I clarified that the third patterns were established based on other subjects, and were then used to create numerous variations.
