Research Abstract |
First, I compared some literary works on the Trial of Joan of Arc (The Lark (1953) by Jean Anouilh, The Trial of Joan of Arc of Proven, 1431 (1952) by Bertolt Brecht , Joan and her Judges (1949) by Thierry Maulnier, etc.) with the minutes of this trial, and I clarified the originality of each literary piece. Secondly, I studied the Joan's silence, described by Georges Bernanos in his essay "Joan, Relapsed and Saint" (1929), to conclude that this silence reflects the author's view of language.
