Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, I focused on two regional transportation companies―Hakatawan Railway Steamship Co. and Asakusa Tram Co.―which was in charge of military transportations in the prewar period and clarified what kind of influences on their managements they had. Specially, the following two points became clear. Firstly, these companies didn’t entirely acquire great benefits from military transportations.Secondly, the military and administration required these companies to unprofitable transportation business in the view of military advantages and these companies recognized not only the financial problem but also their expected role. From these points, I proved that the interests between these companies and the military weren’t necessarily in common.
