Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では，活断層型地震による津波の発生頻度・条件・規模の理解に向けて，1596年に大津波が発生した別府湾の沿岸地域および2024年能登半島地震によって津波の浸水被害を受けた地域において，陸域に残された過去数千年間の津波堆積物を詳密に調査する．さらに，津波堆積物の調査結果と最新の津波計算技術を使って津波の規模を推定する．地質記録と古文書記録，数値計算を融合して取り組む本研究は，活断層型地震による津波の理解ならびに国内外での津波リスク評価に向けた研究モデルとなる．
