Outline of Research at the Start	英語史における語順変化の要因や、that補文の主節現象の出現の要因、及びそれらの構造変化の仕組みを、機能範疇の消失、出現の観点から解明する。特にCP/vP領域の左周縁部の機能範疇の消失と出現に焦点を当てる。電子コーパスや原典を使って英語の縮約関係節や目的語話題化、左方転移の歴史調査を行い、英語史における変化の経路を明らかにする。その上で、構造変化の要因と仕組みをChomskyの生成文法理論や文法化の枠組みを用いて説明する。
