Outline of Research at the Start	今日，海鳥は30％以上の種がレッドリストに記載されている．海鳥は地理的隔離が起こりづらいが，一方で同じ繁殖集団の中に遺伝的分化が生じている．したがって，海鳥の保全には分化をおこす行動・生態的要因の解明とそれに配慮した保全単位の検討が必要である．アホウドリは，主に伊豆諸島鳥島と尖閣諸島で繁殖し，ひとつの単位として保全事業が進められてきたが，最近，これら2つの集団は遺伝的・形態的・生態的に異なる隠蔽種であることが明らかとなった．本研究は，アホウドリの保全単位の再検討を目指して，遺伝的な基盤に基づく非繁殖地の利用海域の違いや繁殖開始のずれなどの生殖隔離を引き起こす生態的要因を個体レベルで検証する．
