Outline of Research at the Start

南西諸島のサンゴ礁海域は、世界トップクラスの生物多様性を有するが、世界で最も保全が必要なサンゴ礁海域のひとつでもある。適切な海洋保全のために、海域の遺伝子流動ネットワークを把握することが重要である。近年、海洋保全において、集団遺伝解析と幼生分散シミュレーションを組み合わせたアプローチである「海景遺伝学 (seascape genetics)」の有効性が注目されている。本研究は「南西諸島のサンゴ礁海域に棲む生物は、島間でどのような遺伝子流動ネットワークを形成しているのか」という「問い」を設定し、これを海景遺伝学により解明する。
