Outline of Research at the Start	軟骨魚類血中に常在する細菌群「血中細菌叢」の存在を証明し、それらが宿主に対して果たす役割を解明するとともに、それら血中細菌との共存/共生を可能とする、軟骨魚類免疫系の病原体パターン認識機構とそれによる免疫調節機構を解明する。脊椎動物免疫系のプロトタイプともいえる軟骨魚類の免疫系が血中の微生物を選択的に排除／許容し、不要な反応を起こさないメカニズムを解明することで、我々が抱える自己免疫疾患やアレルギーの原因、解決の糸口が掴めるかもしれない。
