Outline of Research at the Start

がん悪液質は体重減少、骨格筋量減少などを症状とした合併症であり、がん患者の予後に大きな影響を与える。2021年にグレリン様作用薬アナモレリンが上市されたが、臨床において悪液質をコントロールする薬剤の選択肢は少なく、新たな悪液質治療薬が求められる。近年、がん悪液質における筋委縮に亜鉛トランスポーターであるZIP14の発現増加が関与することが報告された。 そこで、本研究課題では、がん悪液質を模倣した筋委縮細胞モデルおよび動物モデルを活用し、がん悪液質時の筋委縮におけるフェロトーシスおよび鉄の関与やそのメカニズムを明らかとし、フェロトーシスを標的とした軽減薬の探索と予防法の確立を行う。
