Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の概要は、パウル・ツェランがフランス語からドイツ語へ訳した詩を主にヴァルター・ベンヤミンの翻訳思想と関連付けながら分析し、その成果を基に翻訳をめぐる言説について考察を深めることである。
ツェランは東欧の多民族・多言語都市出身のドイツ系ユダヤ人で、20 世紀を代表する詩人である。生涯にわたってかなりの時間と労力を詩の翻訳に捧げた卓越した多言語翻訳者でもある。「詩は翻訳不能」という考え方は現在も一般に広く受け入れられているが、ベンヤミンのエッセイ「翻訳者の使命」においては、詩言語においてこそむしろ翻訳は可能である。ツェランの詩訳の分析を通して、このベンヤミンの言葉の意義を探求したい。
