Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は，英語学習者が動詞の潜在的因果性 (implicit causality: IC) と呼ばれる意味性質を，英文の理解にどの程度用いているのかを明らかにすることを目指す。ICの例として，人が誰かを「尊敬すること」の理由は通常「尊敬される側」にある。このことから，Mary respected Lisa because sheのsheはLisaを指すと解釈されるバイアスがかかる。一方，人が誰かを「苛立たせる」ことは普通「苛立たせる側」に原因があるため，Mary annoyed Lisa because sheのsheはMaryと解釈される。このような潜在的因果性の使用に対する動詞，学習者，教示の影響を解明する。
