Outline of Research at the Start

化石生物の硬組織は過去の地球環境を復元する際に環境指標として重要である。様々な化石グループの中でも、アンモナイト・オウムガイなどの頭足類の硬組織における安定同位体比はこれまで生息域の温度などの環境復元に用いられてきた。本研究では、幅広い時代・地域の海洋における温度を復元するため頭足類の「顎器」に注目する。「生きた化石」と言われる現生オウムガイの顎器の分析、さらに化石頭足類の顎器を用いて過去の環境データを創出する。
