Outline of Research at the Start	本研究の目的は、弥生時代の拠点的集落を中心に出土する小型多孔土器が、過度な集住によって発生した病への対策として試用された薬事（薬の精製、使用）のための容器として用いられた可能性はないかという仮説を立て、学際的に検証しようとすることにある。ヒトの集住と病の発生とは不可分であり、申請者は歴史時代については文献、美術史分野との共同研究による予備的研究を開始している。本研究と対象とする小型多孔土器には白色付着物が残存しており、成分は不明である。研究協力者とともに土器の１）形状、２）付着物、３）出土遺跡の状況から、弥生時代に感染症が発生した可能性と、土器が薬事に使用されたことを実証することを目指す。
