本研究は、1956年に作成された『引揚者在外事実調査票』を用いて統計資料を作成し、それを元に、樺太の首都・豊原市からの引揚者が、戦後日本社会に如何にして定着していったかを明らかにするものである。引揚先としては、引揚者が多く定着した北海道と、日本の首都・東京都に着目する。これにより、樺太のエリート層の引揚状況や、引揚後の定着状況及び戦前戦後の就業状況なども明らかにする。
