核酸塩基は、窒素原子を含む芳香族ヘテロ環化合物で、カルボニル基も含まれ、励起電子状態の 1ππ*状態や1nπ*状態が複雑に絡み合っているためエネルギー構造が複雑である。分光法や量子化学計算でも十分解明されておらず、基礎物理化学や基礎生物物理学において重要な課題である。本研究では、時間分解光電子分光法と時間分解赤外分光法を用いて、核酸塩基の詳細な反応ダイナミクスを解明することを目指し、量子化学計算とも詳細な比較を行って、DNAの光損傷に関する理解を深める。
